I Am FLYtism is a labor of love that derived from a mother who wanted to create safe spaces for whom we've lovingly nicknamed our "Super Babies."Her son, Sir Noah was diagnosed at the young age of three with Severe Non-Verbal Autism. She was completely unaware of what this disorder consisted of or what it looked like for her son's future. When searching for answers, she soon realized the resources weren't as available in the inner cities of Chicago as they are in more prominent areas. She was determined to change that. She set out to create a platform for families to come together, get informed about ASD and to normalize the term disability." We believe that if we continually bring together both worlds, children will be "less quick" to "turn a blind eye to our super babies because they don't understand how to "communicate" or play with them. We are driven by the fact that ALL children deserve to be viewed NOT by their disabilities...but by their ABILITIES!
IAF has been BUSY these past few years. We have BEEN BLESSED to have had MULTIPLE successful events over the years such as Our Annual Shop for Tots Sensory Toy Drive or our Annual End of the Summerfest where we give away brand new unworn sneakers, noise cancellation headphones and air tags to autistic babies in need. We have successfully been throwing a Go Blue April 2 Fundraiser and Awareness event EVERY World Autism Awareness Day on April 2nd in addition to our Blue Bucket Giveaway Halloween Party. We are constantly coming up with events where we can bridge the gap of children with and without disabilities. We also have an Adults with Autism Speed Dating Event as well as our upcoming Mommy and Me Play dates. WE will ALWAYS create events to merge both worlds together and we will continue to spread awareness for the sometimes voiceless.
